Montemar Beach Club in Bataan » Discover Cozy Hideaway On A Rainy Day

Stone patio for flowering vines
While most Manila based corporate drones sink back into the post-summer daily office madness, it seems our HR got this “Summer ain’t over!” just-for-a-change idea of setting our summer company outing on the rainy month of June.

Why go on company outing on a rainy season? We’ll it has its pros and cons. The best reason of course is that awesome all-expenses-paid chance to escape our monotonous workday and spend a single day or two in some relaxing resort. And of course, this is the best season to avoid crowded beaches and resorts during summer.

The downside? Well, it's rainy season and there's a big chance the beach is not swimmable.

Unforgettable Marinduque – Summer Escapes at The Heart of the Philippines

Man killed by Morion. Moriones festival Marinduque Philippines.
After the last few months' stretch of stress, new work adjustments -- and days of surviving my gray and gloomy cubicle – a simple reminder of a memorable summer gives me comfort. So I can’t help but wish for an awesome summer, hopefully as memorable as the previous one.

And while I can’t picture myself locked on my work area for the whole summer, I made plans although unsure – to visit my home in Mindoro for the Holy Week or just get lost somewhere – just to reboot my system.

Also, I guess I already clocked enough work overtime and deserve an island holiday. Fortunately I was able to join some of my officemates on a trip to Marinduque.

The trip gave me an amazing discovery that even though you are at a different place, you can still feel at home.

Calawagan Mountain River Resort » Discover An Unexplored Paradise

Mini waterfalls at the Calawagan River in Paluan Occidental Mindoro
Calawagan Mountain River Resort is a public resort, just a few kilometers (20-minute tricycle ride) from the Municipal hall of Paluan in Occidental Mindoro. It is located at the foot of the Calavite mountain range in Brgy. Alipaoy.

Calawagan river is the recipient of the 1996 and 1998 National Award as Cleanest Inland  Body of Water in the Philippines from DILG, with the former First Lady Ming Ramos as the project's honorary chairman.

Due to its naturally cold and refreshing waters, the resort is a great place to spend a hot day during summer. Usual visitors at the resort are local town folks and sometimes guests from nearby towns. It is also a favorite hang-out of local teenagers and college students on a sem-break.
