Memories of Life on the Farm: Through a video montage. A Philippine rural farming life.

Mga video at ala-ala tungkol sa buhay sa kabukiran, mga magsasaka, pag aalaga ng hayop at simpleng buhay sa probinsya.

I was born and raised in a poor rural farming community in Occidental Mindoro, Philippines. Every rice planting season, our family work on the rice fields. Other neighbors - under the scorching sun, with bodies bent toward the soil, carefully plant rice. 

Farmers face a lot of challenges – expensive farm supplies, new breed of pests, very small to no return of investment, little support from the government and other relevant sectors, and climate calamities.

What if our farmers give up on being farmers? What if they’ll get tired of the same old ways? What if they’ll sell their farms for commercial use? What if they’ll not see the purpose of what they do anymore? What if they’ll give up on us?

Our farmers in the Philippines need empowerment, appreciation, and support. They need access to quality and affordable farm supplies that can guarantee them good returns. They also need the knowledge, skills, and technologies to combat the present challenges of the changing climate.

Pagsasaka sa Pilipinas. Ang sektor ng agrikultura ay isa sa mga pinakamahirap na sector sa ating bansa. Ang Pilipinas ay mayaman sa mga likas na yaman at karamihan sa ating mga mamamayan ay dito kumukuha ng ikabubuhay sa pamamagitan ng pagsasaka at pag aalaga ng mga hayop. ng magsasaka: Salamin ng kasipagan – at ng kahirapan. 

Ang video na ito at nagpapakita ng pag-aalaga ng manok at pabo, panghuhuli ng hito, bayawak, tradisyunal na pagtatanim palay, irigasyon at patubig, pagtatanim ng punla ng palay,  mga karaniwang scenes sa bukid na nakaka relax. Kung ikaw ay lumaki sa probinsya, maaaring na-experience mo din at nakita ang mga bagay na ito. Karaniwan ito sa mga probinsya noon, ngunit ngayon, parang nawawala na ang mga ganitong tradisyon sapagkat napapalitan na ng mga building, at mga subdivision ang mga dating sakahan at palayan. Mabuting sariwain natin ang mga nakaraang tradisyon noon upang maipakita natin sa mga susunod na henerasyon kung paano ba ang buhay noon at ng ma appreciate naman nila kung paano pinag hihirapan ng mga magsasaka ang pagkain na inihahain sa hapag kainan noon. Kung paano ang hirap na pinagdadaanan bago maging bigas ang palay - sa ganitong paraan, mas mabibigyan natin ng importansya ang bawat butil na kinakain natin.
