Immune System-Boosting Healthy Green Smoothie Recipe | Malunggay (Moringa) Mango Cucumber Honey

Immune-boosting smoothie simple recipe to help you stay healthy. This immunity-boosting juice drink is very simple and easily available in the market. Immune boosting wellness smoothie packed with nourishing ingredients: Malunggay leaves (or Moringa), Mango, Cucumber, Honey and pineapple juice.  Sounds crazy, but this smoothie is absolutely delicious, great for digestion and a boost for your immune system!

We made this smoothie for us to help our healing process. Not only does this smoothie taste fantastic with hints of pineapple, mango and cucumber — but it also includes ingredients that boast some pretty incredible health benefits.

Malunggay: “miracle vegetable,” It is locally available, so rich in nutrients and vitamins that its image is used as the official logo of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) of the Department of Science and Technology. 100 grams of malunggay leaves yield the following: 75 calories of energy (higher than ampalaya, squash, tomatoes or carrots), 5.9 grams protein (higher than cauliflower, lettuce or mustard), 12.8 grams carbohydrate (higher than okra, papaya or watermelon), 353 milligrams calcium (higher than gabi leaves, mung beans, squash and camote tops), 3.7 milligrams niacin (higher than other vegetables analyzed). And for thiamin, phosphorus and ascorbic acid, malunggay is at the top of the list.

Mango: mangoes pack a host of health benefits, they are bursting with antioxidants and over 20 different vitamins and minerals. In just a one cup serving, mangos provide you with 35 percent of vitamin A and 100 percent of your daily requirement of vitamin C.

Pineapple: Pineapple includes a natural enzyme called bromelain, which is wonderful for preventing inflammation and helping poor digestive issues. It also sweetens the recipe nicely.

Cucumber: A serving of cucumber -- one-half a cup -- is about 8 calories. They have small amounts of vitamin K and vitamin A and are about 95% water. They also have several phytonutrients (plant chemicals) called lignans.

Raw honey: I LOVE using a little honey, but make sure it’s raw or manuka honey to get additional benefits and higher antioxidant levels. I love keeping a jar of raw/manuka honey in my cupboard just in case I come down with a sore throat during the cold season.

Basic smoothie (occasionally spelled smoothee or smoothy) is a thick beverage made from blended raw fruit or vegetables with other ingredients such as water, ice, or sweeteners. In addition to blended fruit/vegetables, smoothies may include other ingredients such as water, crushed ice, fruit juice, sweeteners (e.g. honey, sugar, syrup), dairy products (e.g. milk, yogurt, low fat or cottage cheese, whey powder), plant milk, nuts, nut butter, seeds, tea, chocolate, herbal supplements, or nutritional supplements.

Smoothies have become an on-the-go staple for health-conscious eaters, and we have to agree: They're ridiculously easy to make, filled with fruits and veggies, and are ready in seconds. What's not to love, right? But not all smoothies are created equal. In fact, many store-bought smoothies are loaded with excess sugar and calories.
