GIBALTAR Crew Change - Filipino Seafarers Crew Replacement Arrangements At GIBALTAR During COVID 19 Situation

Filipino Seaman joining vessel ship in PPE for COVID 19

Sharing to you the Gibraltar Agent's advise for Crew Change and Visa-in-Arrival procedures at Gibraltar for your reference and information.

If crew are suitably documented then they may fly via Malaga airport and take road transport between Gibraltar and Malaga. This usually takes one and a half hours depending on traffic. Time to travel  from Gibraltar airport to Launch station 15-30 minutes depending on traffic.

Click below the latest UK visa requirement (and exemptions for crew members). The list comprise of all the restricted nationals that would require a visa to enter Gibraltar.

The nationals that are in Red must be in possession of a valid ILO 108 seamans  book  which together with our letter of guarantee and confirmed flights via the UK  will allow them to transit London and enter Gibraltar, without a Visa

The nationals that are marked in Black if they only hold a seamans book which is not ILO 108, may transit the UK, without a visa, but they must remain airside  (ie not pass through immigration), and they should have departing flights from London on the same day that they arrived. It is important to remember that their luggage should be booked through to the destination as they will not be able to collect it in London. This can only be achieved if both inward and outward flights to/from London are part of the ONE WORLD group of airlines:

ONE WORLD AIRLINE COMPANIES

  • American Airlines
  • Cathay Pacific
  • Iberia
  • Malaysia Airlines
  • Qatar Airways
  • Royal Jordanian
  • Srilankan Airlines
  • Alaska Airlines
  • Quantas
  • Royal Air Maroc
  • S7 Airlines
  • Fiji Airways
  • British Airways

We are unable to arrange any type of Visa in Gibraltar

It is important to remember that they do not need to be a national of the country that issued the seamans book, and that sometimes crewmembers have more than one seamans book.

A seaman travelling on duty, who is a visa national (including those in transit through the UK) does not need a visa if he holds a valid seaman's book issued by one of these countries which also contains a statement that it is issued under ILO108 (or convention of 1958) or ILO185, having previously ratified ILO108 (or convention of 2003): Algeria, Anguilla, Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Azerbaijan, Barbados, Belarus, Belize, Bermuda, Brazil, British Virgin Isles, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Canada, Cuba, Czech Republic, Denmark, Djibouti, Dominica, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, France, Ghana, Greece, Grenada, Guatemala, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Honduras, Iceland, India, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Liberia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mauritius, Mexico, Moldova (Republic of), Montserrat, Morocco, Norway, Panama, Poland, Portugal, Romania, the Russian Federation, Seychelles, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, Spain, Sri Lanka, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Sweden, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom (including the Falkland Islands and Gibraltar), Uruguay. The seaman does not need to be a national of the country that issued the document

In both cases to allow transit we would have to issue our letter of guarantee (LOG).

We would need the following details:
