Look! Tagaytay Bypass Road Project Is Now Open - Equipped With Segregated Bike Lanes!
Tagaytay bypass road project is now open - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced that the Maitim and Kaybagal sections of the ongoing four-lane Tagaytay Bypass Road Project in Tagaytay City, Cavite, are now open to motorists. Bikers, rejoice! The entire stretch of the Tagaytay Bypass Road will also have a separate bike lane.
The inauguration of the 1.54-kilometer road segment was led by DPWH Secretary Mark Villar which features a bike lane. The Maitim and Kaybagal Section of the ongoing 4-lane Tagaytay Bypass Road Project in Tagaytay City, Cavite is now open to vehicular traffic.
We just opened the Maitim and Kaybagal Section of the ongoing 4-lane Tagaytay Bypass Road Project in Cavite. It is about 1.54 km and is equipped with segregated bicycle lanes (bike lanes).
This is part of the 8.59 kilometer Tagaytay Bypass Road that will divert traffic within the congested city roads of Tagaytay running through Luksuhin, Sikat, Zambal, Guinhawa, Patutong Malaki, Balagbag, Salaban, Kaybagal and Maitim road sections.
When completed, the Tagaytay Bypass Road will reduce travel time from Alfonso to Tagaytay to only 20 minutes saving as much as 33 minutes from the usual 53 minutes.
Aside from the Maitim and Kaybagal Section, DPWH is currently implementing road opening and concreting at the 746-meter Balagbag Section, road opening of 1.32-kilometer Salaban Section - road concreting of 590-meter Guinhawa Section; and road opening and concreting of 580-meter Patuto Section 3.
The entire stretch of Tagaytay Bypass road will also have a segregated bike lane, as per Department Order 88 which requires inclusion of bike lanes in all future national road and bridge projects.
DPWH - Department Order 88 prescribes standard bike lane designs for future projects.
Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar has issued a policy prescribing the standard design of bicycle lanes along national highways, in an effort to meet the needs and safe access of bicyclists and other road users.
Through Department Order No. 88, series of 2020, Secretary Villar said that new national road and bridge construction or future expansion of projects shall incorporate a bicycle facility contingent on the prevailing road and traffic conditions, but will have no less than 2.44 meters of bicycle path width.

A trip to Tagaytay will now take less travel time, with less time in traffic, and less stress.
The Tagaytay Bypass Road will get you from Alfonso, Cavite to Tagaytay in only 20 minutes, down from the usual 53 minutes, shaving off almost two-thirds of the original travel time. Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar inaugurated a 1.54-kilometer road of the 8.49-kilometer, four-lane Tagaytay Bypass Road. And bikers can rejoice too. The entire stretch of the Tagaytay Bypass Road will have a separate bike lane. Villar's Department Order 88 series of 2020 requires the inclusion of bike lanes in all future national road and bridge projects.
