RFID Car Sticker Installation Guide - Cashless Transaction on Tollways and installing an RFID Tag

WALANG RFID? NO NEED TO WORRY!

Here are Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about Cashless Transaction on Tollways and installing an RFID Tag, which you can guide.

1. Will RFID be installed in cars only until December 1?

It is not. December 1 is the deadline for toll operators to implement 100 % cashless transactions on toll roads.

Installation of RFID stickers will continue even after December 2020, especially for first time toll users and new vehicles.

2. How and where to install an RFID sticker?

There are different processes to attach RFID stickers.

Here are the following:

- Book an RFID sticker appointment online and head to the installation site on the schedule assigned for you

- Walk in to installation sites that are not covered by online appointment system

- Schedule an off-site RFID sticker installation in your area (* upon request po ito and subject sa availability of schedule)

- Have an RFID sticker installed in the appropriate lane at the toll gate, or at the installation site / tent near toll booths

3. Many are panicking because the online appointment schedule for RFID installation is already full. Will I be able to enter the toll gate even if I don't have an RFID sticker on December 1?

If the slots on online appointment systems are already full for RFID installation, NO NEED TO PANIC. If you don't have an RFID by December 1, YOU'LL BE THERE IN THE TOLL GATE. The toll gates have RFID installation lanes waiting, and toll operators have staff to assist in installing RFID stickers.

If necessary, all toll lanes are ready to convert as an RFID sticker lane starting December 1.

That means, if you're a motorist without an RFID and pass through a toll gate on December 1, wherever you line up, your vehicle will still be installed with an RFID sticker. If not at the toll gate itself, you will be installed an RFID sticker at the installation site / tent before or after the toll gate.

Starting December 1 through January 11, RFID ventures will be 24/7 on all toll lanes or booths near toll gates.

4. Will there be a rear end to toll gates from December 1 if you don't have RFID?

There won't be a rear end from December 1 to January 11, 2021 for vehicles without RFID.

After January 11, not all lanes at the toll gate will be converted to sticker lanes. Just assign one or two sticker lanes, or even an installation tent before entering the toll gate where RFID can invade vehicles.

In addition to this, toll operators will put big signages on the sticker lanes, so motorists who don't have an RFID will know that they should line up there. They can be tagged if they are lining up in RFID ONLY lanes, especially if they are causing inconvenience to the cars behind them.

5. For people from far away provinces or those who don't always pass by expressway, do we also need to install RFID?

All expressways will need to have an RFID installed. If you are au from a faraway province, you can install an RFID when you need to go through the expressway. There are still sticker lanes that motorists can pass through even if it is beyond the transition phase on January 11.

6. What will happen if the load is insufficient and passes by the expressway? Isn't it allowed to pass by?

While in the transition period from December 1 to January 11, the barrier will still be allowed to be raised if your load balance is insufficient. You may be loaded at the toll booth itself or the toll operator will miss you, be pushed, and loaded by the person using the top-up loading device. There are people the toll operator holding a top-up device in the toll area.

7. Does the load of RFID expire?

The load in your RFID has no expiry date.

8. Where can I call if there is a complaint about RFID sticker, load, or process?

If you have any concern or questions about RFID installation, you may call or ask the following numbers and contact details:

9. If the transition period is over and there is still a car that forced to pass through the RFID ONLY LANE even if it doesn't have an RFID sticker, what could be a traffic violation here?

It can be ticketed by a Disregarding Traffic Sign or Obstruction, depending on whether it's parked behind.

Motorists are reminded that after the transition period on January 11, they will just assign a specific RFID stickering lane or RFID installation site near toll booths so that RFID can hang the vehicle there.

10. Does DOTr have a plan to single out the RFID used in tolls?

This is an ongoing project of DOTr since 2017. This is called ′′ Toll Interoperability ′′ Project, where part of the first phase is the implementation of 100 % cashless transactions on toll roads.

It has three (3) phases:

• Phase 1 – Implementation of Cashless payments

• Phase 2 – One RFID and two wallets (the single RFID will be readable both on north and south expressways, but you still need to maintain two wallets, meaning you have to purchase load for each toll system)

• Phase 3 – One RFID and one wallet

Let's remember that the implementation of cashless transaction is being promoted, especially during this pandemic, to reduce the threat of virus transmission between tellers and motorists.

For the information and knowledge of all.

Take care on your trip!
