How to Register to the eRehistro System of the National Privacy Commission (NPC) [User Guide & FAQ]
Screengrab of NPC e-Rehistro |
The National Privacy Commission (NPC) has officially launched “eRehistro”, its new electronic registration system which can be used by Personal Information Controllers (PICs) and Personal Information Processors (PIPs) to register, amend or renew the registration of their Data Protection Officer (DPO) and Data Processing Systems (DPS). This is in line with Section 46 - Enforcement of the Data Privacy Act, Section 46.a - Registration of personal data processing systems operating in the country that involves accessing or requiring sensitive personal information of at least one thousand (1,000) individuals, including the personal data processing system of contractors, and their personnel, entering into contracts with government agencies and Section 47 - Registration of DPS – Data Processing Systems under Rule XI. - Registration and Compliance Requirements of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Data Privacy Act of 2012 or R.A. 10173.
Moreover, the extension of the validity of existing DPO registrations has been extended by NPC from 7 March 2021 to 30 June 2021. This is to give sufficient time to prepare for the creation of new eRehistro accounts as it now include registration of both DPO and DPS.
The National Privacy Commission is Philippine's privacy watchdog; an independent body mandated to administer and implement the Data Privacy Act of 2012, and to monitor and ensure compliance of the country with international standards set for data protection.

Note from Compliance and Monitoring Division
The new NPC Online Registration System is already live under a closed Beta Testing Phase until further notice. We are doing so to ensure that we will have a controlled environment as we discover bugs, errors, and improvement of features. Kindly wait for further announcements as we transition our Registration System to open beta. The URL will be provided upon announcement of its release, along with instructions on how to access and register.
In this regard, the NPC is extending the validity of ALL existing registrations of Personal Information Controllers (PICs) and Personal Information Processors (PIPs) until 30 June 2021. Phase 2 or the registration of data processing systems is currently suspended until further notice, but it will be incorporated with the new system upon launch.
Please be guided accordingly that the NPC will likely issue extensions of validity until the new system is released to open beta; until then, we can only issue statements via e-mail that your PIC/PIP is compliant as the registration team does not issue new or renewed certificates. While the requirements for renewal will remain the same as registration, the former process involving e-mailing the registration team at dporegistration@privacy.gov.ph is now obsolete. The new portal will provide an online form that is easier and faster to accomplish, along with a means to upload scanned documents for faster validation.
Please check our website and social media pages for any updates. Please look forward to our announcement for the renewal of DPO registration on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/privacy.gov.ph/ and our website at https://www.privacy.gov.ph/
